As an internet-of-things developer Jesse installed sensors on different locations at Schiphol Airport and connected them over the long range (LoRa) network to messaging systems, providing meaningful insights into airport processes via data dashboards and alerts. The application supported several use cases, such as the detection of tunnel height limiter violations by trucks, the detection of geofence violations by airside robot mowers and GPS tracking of airport inventory.

VNG works together with municipalities to develop a mechanism for quick and reliable exchange of data with other municipalities and national government institutions. At an early stage, Jesse was involved in performance testing different architectural solutions. In the pilot phase, Olga got involved as API tester and test analyst focusing on the end-to-end functionality of the exchange mechanism. Later, Jesse rejoined to implement logging of requests to Java back-end applications to Elasticsearch.

At CCV, Olga was responsible for system testing the back-office application for settling payment transactions. She maintained and created Cucumber scenarios and the corresponding Java glue code.

At ArboUnie, Olga tested a Windows desktop application used by many companies to register the absences of their employees. She used SAIO, a robotic process automation tool, to test user journeys through the application. Olga used Postman to test the JSON API back-end of the application.

At VGZ, Olga was involved in the transition to Oracle Fusion Middleware, as well as the maintenance and continued development of the legacy system. During this long-term project she wore many hats: from test automation engineer, integration tester, end-to-end tester and acceptance tester to test coordinator and scrum master.

Jesse has been involved with the Dennis and Eva government applications from their conception. These applications are aimed at organizing the wide variety of available instruments to help citizens transition from social welfare to paid work. During later stages of the project, Jesse helped set up a centralized multi-tenant version of Eva Instrumentengids and prepared it for easy installation and operation by other IT companies on the market.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Jesse joined one of the scrum teams at the Ministry of Health, Welfare & Sports. He contributed to the front-end and back-end of the contact tracing application used by national healthcare services for preventing the spread of the virus.

GS1 is an international organization developing and maintaining standards for barcodes. Their most influential standard is the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN). MyGS1 is a web application that allows companies to create codes and download matching barcode symbols. As a front-end team member at Fabrique, Jesse contributed to a major update of this web application.

In order to integrate behavior driven development (BDD) into the development process of the Tweakers.net website, the team first transitioned from a central development server to fully containerized development environments. Next, behat - a Gherkin based test framework - was set up with autowired contexts, phpspec expectations and the Page object pattern. Jesse introduced the senior developers to behat in pair programming sessions and provided training on BDD and Gherkin for the development and product teams. This endeavor was later rewarded with the publication of an article dedicated to this project on the Tweakers website.
